Not an ordinary girl...
I can only be me, & no one else
Fighting through the world, with only myself
Not in it all alone
But my heart has no home
Searching for the place I can call my own.
Looking for the half to make me whole.
The poem above entitled "Sailing Souls" is just a preview of my inner workings. It is inspired by a mixtape by R&B artist Jhene Aiko called Sailing Soul(s). From the time I was 13 years old, I've been writing poetry. I write about the things I see, the world I live in and my feelings. I love music. It helps me cope with life and feeds my creativity. When I'm writing a poem or song (Yes, I sing too) I have to feel it. I let my feelings take me to different places in my mind. The poem I just wrote was written off the top of my head. I feel that its easier to feel the moment and flow from there.
Sometimes I feel like I belong on another planet. A creative, inspiring planet like Mars or something. A place with no wars and turmoil. A place where all the creative souls of the world can simply be. We don't have to think, feel or act. We just are, alone with the essence of us. That's a perfect world to me. It looks like that won't be happening anytime soon. So I'll just make due with Earth for now.
